Out ThereOne More ElectionJohn Kuempel of Seguin will run for his late father's seat in the Texas House. Out There: Opine SeasonThis week, bloggers are revealing other people's stances on scads of subjects, and weighing in with their own opinions as well. They're also launching verbal assaults on various adversaries, reporting on political contests and showing their human side. Out There: BackdraftBloggers are still burning over news reports concerning Gov. Rick Perry, the Forensic Science Commission and the execution of Cameron Todd Willingham. They're also talking about courtroom proceedings, dollar signs and constitutional amendments. Wrapping it up is the President's trip to Aggieland and other news. Out There: Record SettersPolitical types are talking into microphones this week, while bloggers take notes on every word. Also making headlines are gubernatorial contenders, other campaigners and folks who don't have to run in order to take office. The final section includes posts on a controversial canine columnist and other subjects. Out There: Roasted GooberAfter a week marked by a forensic science commission shakeup and a webcast screw-up, Gov. Rick Perry is drawing fire from all directions in the blogosphere. The captains of the keyboard are also talking about other candidates for office, the race for state GOP chair and what's on the ballot next month. Accusations leveled at a former House Speaker lead off the final section. Out There: Blue Blog CoalitionThe typically left-leaning blogosphere turned a deeper shade of azure after Hank Gilbert's official announcement for governor last week. Bloggers are also buzzing about other Democrats, gubernatorial Republicans and subjects of a sensitive nature. Plus, news about the Houston airport, and more. Out There: Hair ClipsTheir mirrors might say otherwise, but Republican rivals Gov. Rick Perry and U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison didn't look too pretty in recently released videos and book excerpts. Texas House races catch the new media's attention this week, as do statewide Democrats and an incarcerated blogger. Wrapping it up is information about the state school board, the border wall, a town hall meeting and other topics. Out There: State of the StatewidesThe biggest contests on the 2010 ballot captivate Texas bloggers' imaginations this week. The Net's got room for smaller campaign fry, too, as well as a new liberal/progressive website. Closing it out is a lunch conversation with Karl Rove and other stories. Out There: Party CrasherEntertainer Kinky Friedman might be a fun guy to smoke a cigar with, but left-leaning bloggers aren't exactly welcoming the gubernatorial aspirant into the Democratic Party. Bloggers are also discussing other folks running for governor, stirring up trouble in the real world, writing about politics and talking penology. At the end, a Republican eats crow, and more. Out There: Hank-y PankyDemocrat Hank Gilbert made a big splash online with his entry into the gubernatorial race, though bloggers don't agree whether he's a leviathan or a guppy. Also making news in the blogosphere: other spots on the ballot, folks who want out of the Union and the continuing federal health care debate. A vision of former felons packing heat headlines the finale. |
